Anyone kind enuf to share their thoughts on coconut bark?

Funnyman527 Jun 26, 2004 12:53 AM

If u dont get wut i mean, i'm talking about coconut bark as a substrate...

my biology teacher uses it as a substrate for his BD, and seems to really like it alot, so im considering buying sum for my new 55 gallon tank...

any pro's and con's that u'd care to share about it would be a great help in helping out my decision...

SUCKS... Holds way too much moisture leading to possible RI. Harbors bacteria and can cause impaction also.

The only way I like using it is a 50/50 mix with granite or a good soil.

It also is usually infested with mites.
