New time Owner, and he's sick! Please HELP!!

ms-munky Jun 26, 2004 01:13 AM

She's only about 2 months old and she is shedding for the second time, so I put her in a warm bath for about 5 minutes, she did't want to stay very long. I was wary about trying to help her with the skin around her eye cause it is essentially making her blind. I didn't cause I want to wait and she if she can do it on her own. But my real concern is that it looks like the tip of her tounge may be red and jagged!! It was nice and pink before and now it's red! She's eating alright, and the temp is FINALLY where it needs to be, she has a place to go when it gets too warm, and a heat rock on the other side for extra heat. She eats amazingly well, but I DID find a teeny beetle like thing in there the other day which I promptly removed. Can anyone help me?? Please??

Does she have a humid hide in her cage always? Also if i notice they're going to shed, they turn gray, i spray the cage.
If not try that, if you haven't heard of that just ask, i don't want to sound condicending if you already know.

Also don't use heat rocks, they will burn your animals.
Most people will tell you that, i've had one and if you feel it with your hand it hurts.

The red tounge thing i wouldn't worry too much, cuz are you absolutely sure its changed color. Often when we start worrying about the little guys we over worry and judge everything.
good luck

Well she has a large water dish that she can completely soak in and ai mist her once a week. She's a lucidic, doesn't that mean she will stay white? And the heat rock is ok, it only feel warm, and she only goes on it when it gets really cold in my room. But she shed more theis morning and i managed to help her off with the rest of it, but her toungue is still a bit red.

They don't sit in their water dishes. They're a desert animal, the water is cold.

you can give them a margerine container with a hole cut in it with paper towel you can mist every day
Try it, doesn't matter which side(hot/cold) you put it on but they do need it all the time.

Also i would check the hot rock daily, is there another source of heat?
