Very serious problem

jgika Jun 26, 2004 07:34 AM

Alright this breeeding season has just not been my year. I have had 3 baby leos born. First was definitely premature but seems to be doing fine now. The other two came out much bigger and healthier looking. Everything appeared fine with these other two as they were active and just normal i guess. Well both of these little ones have passed on in the last few days and I have no idea why.
They have a set up with plenty of hides, moist hides, water, temperature at 86-88 degrees on paper towels... i just dont get it. The main issue is the eating I think. I kept them by their egg for a little over a day after they hatched. Then they shed and I tried feeding them and they wouldnt eat. now my first baby (the premature one)wouldnt eat for a while either than she started coming around. With the 2 that have died I did not think there was any issues and figured they too would eat as they were energetic and all but then just croaked...Any ideas of what I could possibly do to avoid future deaths of my leos?

pin head crickets, waxies, mealworms.. pretty much all of the above...I do not know how one knows how to teach a gecko where the water is... any ideas? I figured instincts would tell them... I suppose it coulf have been dehydration although I was misting them twice daily...

If one of the ones that died was the one with the sheding problem it could be from infection. It's limbs did not look good in the pics you posted.
What size enclosure were you houseing them in? hatchlings tend to do best in small shoebox size enclosures, housed individually.
Good luck I hope yuo figure out what is going on.
