L0wrider Jun 26, 2004 02:02 PM

well, my family and i went to a reptile show today. there were loads of snakes, beardies, ect. Then my mom found her new "Buddy" a Mali Uromastyx. the uro is a male and pretty much full grown. he is kinda skinny but its ok. we'll get him to tip top shape.

Tiny now has a brother!

well the uros name is Buddy. he wasnt looking to good today.so we got him a 150 wt bulb and let him chill in his cage. i checked up on him a few hours latwer and he ate alot of food.now hes moving and getting fiesty. i showed him to Tiny and tiny tried to EAT him. it was so funny. tiny put his mouth on the uros nose and jumped back when it moved!

so how are uros and thier temperment?

my uros are very different. one(spike) is very loveable. as soon as i put my hand in the cage he runs to me and climes up. he is playful too. he likes to chase my fingers around when i move them in front of him. he loves to give kisses. they both lick everything they see. the other one(turtle) is tame but would rather be left alone. he will let you pick him up and pet him but you can tell he just does not want to be bothered by you. unless you have food of course. he also seems to get scared easy. resulting in uro poop all over me. but he is great and i wouldnt trade him for the world. they all have their own personalities. your going to love your new uro. i find them the most fun reptiles to be around.

So please give me some pointers about the care and food.
PLEASE!!! The uro forum said feed them collard green and thewn said don't. What do you feed yours?

bloodroses19 Jun 27, 2004 08:37 PM

i feed mine collard greens, mustard greens, beans, birdseed, dandelion (both flower and greens the pollen is good for them) once in a while i give them a cricket as a treet. but crickets should not be feed too often. this is mainly what i feed them and ive done real good with this diet. i have fat healthy uros.
good luck!
