Rex has a new buddy!

Our big ornate male Rex has a new girlfriend! We picked up Jasmine today and they are both getting used to the new enclosure. Thanks Charla and it looks like Jasmine likes the new enclosure just fine. We only got two of the plants in before the rains hit at our house but Jasmine definately likes the one that looks like monkey grass.

We wanted her to get a chance to check the place out for a while before we let Rex back in so we just re-introduced him a few minutes ago. They are getting to know each other and I see what you mean about her being fiesty. Rex got too close and Jasmine pushed him right over. That girl knows how to take care of herself (hehe). More later...

Thanks Matt! I am so thankful Jaz has a new good home! The plant your talking about is Lirope......all of my turtles love to hide in this. Jaz will even crawl on top of it when it's real thick and sit there. The hosta will prove to be a great hide spot for them too! And yes, Jazmine is quite the fiesty gal.......I'd bet anything that she bit off Timmy's nail! I've seen her grab a hold of his leg and break skin before.......so be careful. They usually work it out between themselves, and Timmy has certainly "got his way" many a time, but the females rarely invite that sort of behavior.....at least not mine, they run! Hopefully you will catch her laying some eggs and end up with some babes.........good luck and keep me posted, with pics too! Now, if there's anyone around the area that is looking for a nice and friendly male ornate, drop me a line. He's the last of my herd that I'm going to place.

Charla,
Jas is settling in really nice. She is eating great, (ate apple slice right out of younger sons hand this morning) and boy is she fiesty. She certainly doesn't let Rex tell her what to do (haha). We watched him chase her around a while yesterday. He finally got tired of it and just went back in his house. Today, they were doing their own thing. Rex waiting at the food dish as usual and Jaz hanging out near that plant.

She is going to be very happy and we think she is a cutie with that strong yellow patterning on her shell!
