Bought from Bill Cagle out of Jeff Quiggle stock. He's in the blue right now, otherwise I'd have something more current. Contrast, contrast, contrast.

This is one of the highlights of my collection. A very light female. Here's my question.. I bought her as an Amazon Basin Red-Tail... is this just a way of saying the locality is unknown? Does Amazon Basin infer that it was NOT collected in Peru? Could anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks in advance-

I have a couple that were labled as Amazon basin boas that were imported in from Ecuador and I think in the general circles, that is what they refer to. They do look very similar to the Peruvians but tend to be more on the Brown Side (saddle Color) vs the Silver Black color of the Peruvian Boas

I think Amazon Basin implies that the specimen was collected in the Amazon basin portion of the country, rather than from the country's mainland. I think most of them are from Ecuador, but I can't say that that's always the case. The ones I've seen look like BCC from Ecuador, Peru, or Columbia. It's probably just creative marketing...."Amazon basin redtail" sounds cool, doesn't it? Personally, I'd rather know exactly where the animal is from. If you really want to know, ask the person you bought the snake from. They should be able to tell you the lineage of the animal.
Here is a pick of my white peruvian, Produced by Dan Mulleary!

Hi Hermann,
Normally I would never question you on your locality Boas, you have much more knowledge of the true Red Tails and the Localities then I do, But that really looks Brazillian? You sure you posted the right pic?
Beautiful snake either way.

Yes, of course.
This animal is from a breeding farm near Iquitos/Peru which is run by Ryan Richards.
I concede that this is not a normal looking Peruvian, she is kind of aberrant.
