Pacman and calcium

bgro Jun 26, 2004 06:37 PM

I've been using "reptocal" brand calcium to dust my crickets and I've noticed lately he's had a hard time opening his eyes? Anyone have any suggestions as to what brand seems to be the best for Pacmans and if anyone knows why he may be like this?

P.S. I dont ever feed him mice, only crickets

AS long as the ratio of calcium to phosphorus ratio is between 1.5 and 2 to one and the ratio of vitamin A to D3 to E is 10 to 1 to 0.1 (or as close to possible) the vitamin should be fine. If the vitamin-mineral supplement is more than six months old then I would suggest replacing it with a new supplement.

This article may help you out a little.

While I can't rule it out (you would need to see a vet to do so), this does not sound like something caused by the vitamins. How damp are you keeping the substrate and how warm is the cage.

Well he was at 78 - 85 night and day and he's at 80 or above humidity always, coconut substrate. I had made a post about him a month or two ago when he was flipped over and acting wierd and I took him to the vet and he put him on sulfa injections for a week and he seemed like he was alright, but never been the same. After work today, upside down and completely immobile...he was slightly breathing so I put him down the only way I knew of using orajel and a freezer. Hope he goes out peacefully....
