what do you think?

Man.... I dunno. Thats one smoking animal. My first thought was Gleaurti (god help my spelling), but those circles seem too small... is it acanthurus?? I know it CANT be pilibarensis!
?
?
Why, was I right. hahahahahahahaha it could be V.auffenbergi(sp) as well.
The reason I guessed what I guessed is, I have hatched many of V.t.tristis, and a percentage look like that individual, in all cases, the ones with that much reddesh on the back were males.
Some of those even had reddesh heads. While they lose much of that color, they indeed grow to be very handsome monitors.
I still have five or six of those, but have long since stopped digging up eggs. yes they still breed. Cheers FR
damn, you guessed right, but then again, this animal's ancestors did come from you, so......
Yes it is a male tristis tristis... as for being young, he is about 3 years old; not sure what you consider young/old... He definately is a handsome individual... His red coloration does spread into his neck and head, something that my pictures can't really show off too well...
I am quite fond of him.... Thought I'd try and see if anyone guessed pilbarensis, 'cause sometimes right after shedding his back area, he is as vibrant(almost) as a pilbara...
anyways, lucky guess dude....
bob

Yea, threes a bit young, as His grand daddy is over here and is about 12 or so. I will have to take a good pic and post it here for you, as he looks awesome still. Talk about a Mourning monitor, hes textbook. Hey, I have a little guess thing going on our forum, take a shoot. Thanks for the fun, FR
