What i am planning on doing for my new beardie is haveing the substrate be a "sterelized and sifted" play sand. And when it is time for him to eat i am going to put him in a tank that is lined w/ paper towels. this way there will be no chance of impaction, unless he just likes eating sand. what do u think?

i wouldn't because you you could just put a dish inside of the tank and not haft to take it in and out of the tank and it mite get stressed.

but the crickets are not gonna stay in a dish

Good reason not to use sand, then. If your beardie is going to be young you're better off just using paper towels for the time being. Once it's an adult you can feed it salads in it's cage, and you won't need to feed crickets as much.

that still does not answer my question. IF YOU FEED IT IN A CAGE W/ NO SAND, COULD IT STILL INGEST ENOUGH SAND TO HURT IT?

I have raised many hatchlings on sifted childrens playsand. I also know several other breeders that raise there dragons on sand from day one. The problem with using paper towels and news paper is that all of the crickets will go under them. It is real pain in the butt.

Good luck!!

Even though you are getting short with me and a bit rude, I'll still answer your question.

Yes. It can. Doesn't mean it will but it can.

Go ahead and take the risk if you want. I don't care.
