Subject: Considering a Hogg....

I've been reading up on Hoggs, but have a few unanswered questions. I've fallen in love with these guys, but I've only seen pictures and can't seem to get a good idea of how big/thick they get. I would love a male hogg, but can someone give me an idea of the girth on an adult male?

What size prey and how often would an adult male eat?

Finally, would a cage that is 48x24x18 be good (if not what would you recommend)?

Thank you.

My adult male is in the 4 1/2'-5' range and is about 3-4" in diameter at his thickest point. (my guess is he is around 8-9" in girth at his thickest point.)

Most male bci would be more then comfortable in that size enclosure especially a male Hogg island boa. I keep my male at the same requirements temperature and humidity as I do the rest of my bci and he is fed a medium to large rat every 10-20 days (longer between feedings when he is given a larger feeder)
