how to breed Red Tail Boas

I have 2 Nice red tail boas, Male is about 8' and Female is about 9 1/2'. I am wondering how to breed them.

Keep the female well fed.

Make sure the cage has a nice heat gradient. hot on one end and cooler on the other end.

If the snake is always on the cool side it means your hot side is too hot. If your snake is always on the heat than it means you need to turn up the heat a little.

This Fall or winter, start introducing the male to the female. Low pressure/cold front weather systems really promote breeding activity.

Leave the male in with the female. at a certain point you will see the female "football" ( her belly will swell to look like she has swallowed a football).

This is ovulation. Hopefully your male has already inseminated the female prior to this occuring.

Approx 4 months later.......if everything works out ok ... Babies!!!
