froggystyle34 Jun 27, 2004 12:52 PM

Ok here's the deal... my female dragon is prego and she is digging in everything her food mostly so i put a moist lay bopx in her cage, well from what i read she should be laying within a couple of weeks. well to make a long story short, what do i do if she lays over the fourth of july weekend i will be at the lake and someone will be taking care of my dragons. if she lays and i dont see them till sunday when i get home can i go ahead and put them in the incubator or what? will they live? the vet said since she hasnt laid before they might not be fertile till her third clutch. she gets veggies 3 times a day, and supers 2 times a week, doesnt eat crix, but everything is dusted with calcium. to top all that off i got about 70 people who want the babies, and a pet store that will supply me with little crix for 30 bucks a month siad i can get up to 300 crix a day, a bit much but hey. well anything i dont know can you help me out? first time here and i am not putting the male and female together anymore.

thanks
ken

ok. first of all pregnant=gravid in the herp world. if a gravid female i digging shes going to lay very soon. take the lay box out of the cage. make sure the lay box has at least 12in. of moist dirt. put your female in the lay box. and put a heat lamp over her so she stays at a reasonable temp (like 90). she should start digging. and will probably lay within 24 hours. just keep an eye on her.

well her lay box is on her basking side of the tank, and it is moist. she has been digging for the past week and a half... she is definately pgravid or whatever you can see the outline on the eggs in her belly.

inside the cage is very dry so any eggs in there will dry out and die relatively quickly. they need to e removed asap.

BDs can and often do have fertile first clutches. their first season may be less than subsequent seasons however.
