The hide rocks are a great idea but be very carefull. When you take off the rock piece, you create a gap on the inside between the piece and the glass. If a gecko's toe or tail is inside that gap when you close the magnets it will be damaged severely. I suggest to mount it on the inside with either double sided tape (for easy removal to clean) or if you want silicone (safer but a pain to take off). Other than that the idea is great. Our store sells them for 30 as well so its not too steep.
I think the rock is defiantely worth it. Although sometime my rock clamp together very quuickly and it creates a "snapping" against the glass. I find the best way to keep the outside rock piece from "snapping" dur to magnetic force, is to hold the bottom of the outside rock at an angle touching the glass with the bottom magnetic pieces connecting and "rocking it" it up to touch the top piece to connect the magnetic pieces there. But be careful to have a good grip of the outside piece, because if you don't move slow enough it will still cause the snapping against the glass... If this summary doesn't make enough sense then I will try to post a picture summery showing these steps in step-by-step action shots.

Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about that works. Just have to pay very carefull attention that nothing gets caught between the glass and the rock.
