More hog size questions.

MountainLyon Jun 27, 2004 02:44 PM

Is there a line of purebred hogs or crosses known for small size?

How does the size of a hypo or salmon hog compare to a true hog?

How does a nic compare in size to a true hog?

I've been reading other peoples questions that are similar to mine. Tigergenesis just asked about hog size, some adult weight comparisons would be very helpful for me because I have a bad back and need to know what I'll be lifting.

Based on the reading I've done I'm not interested in rainbows or dumeril's anymore. Rainbows appearently won't "hang out and watch tv" and I'd rather not wory about humidity. Dumeril's sound like they're too big and finnicky eaters.

As for size of True Hog's I would contact Breeder's with available offspring, they would be able to tell you the size of there adult's.Most True Hog's will be under 6 feet, some in the Sear's Line have the potential to reach 7 feet.Male's will be much smaller than Female's.Hog's have thick body's compared to Nic's,Nic's have a more slender body, adult Female Nic.'s will reach 6 feet Male's will be smaller 4 to 5 feet,a Hypo BCI x Hog Island would have the potential of a much larger size than a True Hog Island,Hog Island Boa's are Natural Hypo's.If your just looking for a Small Pet Boa you cant go wrong with a Male Nic. or Hog .

Sounds like Nics are no smaller than Hogs, so Hogs interest me more. I'll probably find a bably purebred male with small parents, or maybe a pair from different sellers, to raise up and breed.

Thanks again,

Lyon

You might not want to avoid the Sear's Line Hog's,they are decendent's of one of the Last collected Hog Island Boa's from (Cayos de los Cochinos)"Island's of the Hog's" AKA Hog Island when it come's to Hog's, the Sear's Line is Top of The Line ! ! Have A Good One ! !
