My Pac-Man Frog is Also Not Eating

nitzrokk Jun 27, 2004 03:07 PM

I read the other recent thread started by Reecefam. I got my frog the night of the 25th. The frog moves very little, and I almost had to force feed the frog 2 crickets on the night I got it. I saw it try to nip my finger, then figured it was settled in and ready to eat, but I haven't been able to get it to eat since. And it doesn't move if poked or nudged a few times, I literally have to pick it up and move it. The bedding I use is a non-living moss, and I used an old candle top as a water bowl, and put some gravel in it so the frog doesn't sink or get stuck. As you can see in the pic, it is in the corner of the tank. I put the water bowl there becase it's been there most frequently, and I figure it's the warmest area in the tank, but the frog just went and pinned itself between the bowl and the tank wall. Shouldn't these frogs move a little more, and be hungrier at this age? I'm also considering the chance it still might not be settled in. They had it in a little coffee shot cup with soil in it for 2 days at the pet store before I picked it up. I remember my last frog being more active, but it was a little older and a little bigger than this one. Any suggestions would be appreaciated.

My frog barely moves at all. It's only been two days (at least where I live) and you can just give it some more time. Leave it alone for a day or two, and then try feeding it. How big is the frog?

It's a little bigger than a quarter--I guess like adding 2 cm all around one [a quarter]. When I ordered it, they told me the small ones come about 2 weeks old (2 weeks after the morph I assume).

It's only been 2 days. It's not surprising he wouldn't eat on his first day & trying to force feed him isn't helping. Just let him be for a while. Try to feed him every few days & if he doesn't eat, just remove the insects & try again the next day. They really don't move much; mine only moves after she's gone to the bathroom, then she moves to a clean spot.
