uromastyx Jun 27, 2004 06:45 PM

I have acquired a female of this species and was wondering if anyone can give me any sites with good care guides on them, or if anyone has kept them can help me? What ae the ideal temps, humidity etc.
Thanks

Hi,

I believe I am one of the only people on this forum that keeps a Cyrtodactylus species, as I have made many requests for info here and they have never been answered. First thing is to double check taxonomy and make sure you have C. louisiadensis and not C. irianjayensis. I made that mistake myself at first. Irianjayensis anre far more common in the pet trade. They are from SE Asia, roughly the same area that Tokays are from. They are semi-arboreal and need bark for climbing. I keep mine on reptile bark with high humidity - around 70-80% most of the time. I alsdo keep them relatively warm, with a basking area of about 90 and cooler end around 80. I have had mine since last November, and they recently laid their first clutch, which unfortunately were laid in a dry water dish and became dessicated under a heat bulb before I found them. I'm keeping my eyes out for the next clutch though. Good luck with them!

Geckos:
Eublepharis macularius (various morphs), Paroedura picta (banded, stripe, and amel), Paroedura bastardi bastardi, Paroedura androyensis, Hemitheconyx caudicinctus, Rhacodactylus ciliatus, Cyrtodactylus irianjayensis, Gekko gecko, Pachydactylus turneri, Uroplatus henkeli, Teratolepis fasciata, and Oedura monilis.

Snakes:
Corns, a single ball python, a pair of Taiwan Beauties, and a pair of Tangerine Honduran Milks

I will post a picture of mine for you to see what type it is. I can't find many pictures of them on the net to try and identify it myself. I was sold it as louisiadensis, but I'm not too bothered as long as I know how to care for it. Also how easy are they to sex? I'm assuming mine is female because it has no hempenal bulge. Also I've been told they can lay 1 golf ball size egg, is this true?
