Here is mine at about 10 months old. He has a half sister that is also a bit of a classic jungle but their time in the incubator overlapped so they might both be caused by incubator problems as I think no one has yet been able to prove the full classic jungle appearance genetic.

Of course I can't take credit for anything but my evolving incubation skills. That was a particularly bad year and the last I used the Styrofoam incubator.

He is a 25% chance het stripe so I am trying to breed him right now just in case to a girl who laid late last year so was cycled late this year. I'll try to get around to an updated pic soon but most of the radical change was in his first year. Here he was as a hatchling.

She shares some of his characteristics but since their incubations overlapped it could be due to environment problems and not genetic. Her somewhat less well-developed head spot doesn’t show well in this picture and she has less of a mustache than her half brother.

She was just at 1,500 grams (apx 1.5 years) this winter and did lock up some but apparently isn't gravid. Maybe next year she'll produce a stripe for me.

Why do you hope for a striped from her? I ask, because I have a female "jungle" that has very similar side markings to that one, but she is striped. Her belly is fairly clear, and in the sun her eyes are gold. If I ever quit buying snakes I will get a camera, and send you some pics.

Very nice snakes.

My animal was not sold to me as a jungle, just a nice normal stripe.

Her great grandfather is Bob Clark's original genetic stripe. However, after 3 consecutive generations of out breeding (not that the imported stripe probably needed out bred) she is only a 25% chance het stripe on paper (actually either a 50% or 0% depending on if her 50% het father is a het or not).

I suppose it's possible that her appearance could have something to do with the stripe gene but it doesn't seem likely with all the pics of seen of rather normal looking stripe hets (at least from above). Actually if I had to guess that it was due to a proven genetic gene I would say clown as to me she looks clownish but I don't know that either of her VPI parents had any chance of carrying that gene. Probably just an incubation problem effect. Of course I'm going to breed her and her more normal looking half sisters anyway.

Guess I should have read all the above posts before I asked about the stripe. Anyways, great looking animals.

the only difference between mine and yours is that yours were captive breed. the girl i have is a wild caught. i'm currently looking for a male to breed her with to see if it'll be genetic. good luck with yours....

Heres a pretty intense Jungle/Calico that we are working with. He is awesome, and will be breeding this coming season.

This girl was hatched here back in May of 02 and she is still a killer in color and appetite. She is working on a med rat in this picture. Her parents are 2 seemingly normals! Just out of no where! She may be on the a team this winter! Enjoy!

Here is a "classic jungle" for you guys. This particuliar animal has produced many aberrant offspring over the years (I have named this line the Berkley Line) and I have yet to let any of his offspring out to the public. Once I prove exactly what he is or isn't I will be able to properly price his offspring, until then it's a 'dinking around' project! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.

Very nice!! Good luck with them.
