This guy was almost black when I got him a little over a year ago, dark all over, even the belly was a dirty, sooty brown. All you could see was that the saddles looked reddish, instead of black. He's also got an interesting viperish head-look, less obvious in this pic, really flattened and blade-like. Now he's as colorful as many nice Guyanans. The change didn't come on with one or two sheds, it was gradual. He's just 5' long.
I like the boa (though we would get along better if he'd eat more than once every 4-5 weeks) but I'm a little disappointed that he turned out to be just an average Suriname. Anybody else see that kind of dramatic change in an adult or sub-adult boa?
