Hi Folks,
I was just wondering if anyone has any good reason (other than being gravid) why a female would lay inverted (as if she were gravid)?
I purchased several adult females (at different times) earlier in the year from a reputable person/business. I was told that the females that they get are females that have laid eggs, and the breeder dumps them off to the business. The female at the time was still of decent size and did not look skinny or thin as if she had recently laid.
I accepted the answer as such and all has been normal and well. She has since adapted well, and has been feeding somewhat regular for a bit now. All of a sudden the past 2 days she has laid inverted (belly up) as if she were gravid.
I certainly have no problem if she is gravid, but she hasn't been with any of my males since I have had her in possession (March). I know it isn't unheard of for a female to retain sperm, etc. either. I won't be upset if she does lay, but am certainly curious to know 1) what type of offspring she will have (since I have no idea who the father was). In the meantime I have sent an email to the person I purchased from in hopes that their assigned stock number will provide some sort of clue to backtrack to the previous owner.
Any thoughts?
