Sarawaks Hatching - FINALLY! ***PICS***

bloodpythons Jun 28, 2004 12:26 PM

Whew...talk about a load off. My female gave me a clutch of 15 in May, 9 of which were duds & 3 that eventually went bad, leaving me with 3 beautiful eggs. 58 days later, the babies are finally pipping & I'm doing the happy egg dance.

Enjoy!

Congrats!, I bet its a relief for any clutch of eggs to hatch. Is this your first clutch with your sarawaks?Cant wait to see them all out of their eggs slithering around. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ethan!!! Yes, this is my first clutch of Sarawaks, so seeing those little heads this morning really made my day. Nice to see a first time female go, too!

Now the hard part is deciding how many to keep!

Congratulations on hatching out the Sarawaks!

I guess it has not been a very good year for Sarawak production. I succeeded in getting two clutches with results similar to yours. My original '00 female had a clutch of 19, of which 14 were infertile. The 5 good eggs hatched but one hatchling was deformed. Thankfully the remaining 4 look great. This in contrast to her first clutch last year - 18 perfect eggs with a perfect hatch. I also have a monster WC female Sarawak on breeding loan from Chris Carmichael. I believe her to be one of the 6 or so that VPI originally imported, as Chris received their colony. She had a clutch of around 20, but again loaded with duds. I incubated 6 eggs but only two hatched, one of which is runtish.

Thanks Bob!! I'm very sorry to hear you had the same "luck" with your clutches. Let's hope that next year will be better!!!

Can't wait to see your baby pics!

Great Job!!!!

I would love to see the babies after they hatched. Are these ones originated from Chris Carmichael, also?

bloodpythons Jun 28, 2004 07:58 PM

Hey Rich!

Trust me - there will be pics a-plenty plastered all over the forum once these little ones are out of the egg. Yes, my adults were produced by Chris Carmichael too.

My pleasure, Kara.

By the way, did you get my email I sent yesterday? I'm Dana from NYC. Enjoy the babies.

bloodpythons Jun 29, 2004 07:56 PM

Today I managed to wipe out my entire inbox. Found out that the "remove account" setting not only takes an e-mail address out of my e-mail program, but also every single message that isn't saved to a local folder. Needless to say I won't be clicking THAT button again!!!!

You think I could possibly, pretty-please with precious short-tailed pythons on top get you to drop me another quick note so I can sit down & send you the reply you deserve?

Thanks, and thanks for bearing with me!!!!!

Late nuthin'. You're off swooping around in the wild blue yonder - I can't wait to see more of your hang gliding pics. You are SO ballsy!

Thank you sweetie - these little pudgy babies have me losing my mind. They are just precious.

One in particular reminds me of the Marshmallow, who hisses "hi" by the way!

How are the reds doing?

Hehe, thanks Kara

This question may sound ignorant, but what causes breeding Sarawaks to be so difficult? It seems as though these guys reproduce less easily than the rest of the curtus family. I know that there are relatively few Sarawaks in the country, but even the clutches that we do see don't appear to be as large as others. Perhaps this is just due to my own misguided evaluation, but if you ever get a chance (I can only imagine how busy you are) I'd love to hear about any differences with these guys.

Aww, tell Da 'Mallow I said hi!! She still being a sweetie for you?

The reds are doing GREAT. The little one just shed out...unfortunately I was gone on the Air Race Classic for a week, and 3 of my snakes decided that would be a good time to shed [/eye roll]....ended up having to soak two of them. Everyone came out ok, and the little gal pounded down a good sized meal afterwards...sure made me angry with myself though!

yikes, sorry for the long post! Take care and enjoy those babies!!

CONGRATULATIONS KARA! hehe

Finally came out of my hole to start messaging again and I thought I'd finally invade the blood forum. I've thought and dreamed of getting into these for the past two years but never really got any (just been trying to decide what type to start with).
Can't wait to see some of these!!!

Hugs!
