Need Help...

JohnZ Jun 28, 2004 01:43 PM

I just moved down to Florida from Minnesota and need some help. I am looking for a home and told my real estate agent i raise Ball pythons and he keeps telling me in need to live in a " zoned agricultural" area. Well only things that fit that are ranches.
I was like come on. I do not need 20 acres to rase 100 to 200 Ball Pythons. Can someone living in Florida help? I am in Citris County now but an look here and surrounding counties. Who should i call to get the right answer? Someone before said i need a permit(and thats fine), but is there someone here i can call to get the answers and all? I do not want a ranch to live on, just a nice home with some Balls...

I live in central Florida (Brevard county) and I am licensed by the state to keep reptiles. This does not authorize me to have animals in a "restricted" area. I would call around in the areas you are interested in. Make them prove they are not authorized. Those afraid of reptiles will automatically say "NO".

Also, don't advertise. This is for many reasons other than the obvious. Do you plan to buy a home? Is it in a deed restricted community? If not, then check with the local city and county for ordanances dealing with reptiles. I know in Brevard county, they had to rethink their rules because the conflicted with the regulations of the state.
