Here is a wild caught Aransas Co., TX specimen. She is typical of the Splendida collected in the South Texas area. I have seen only few nicer than her.
Get in touch with Don Shores if interested in some really nice ones.

Oh Yeah, Crimsonking has some nice ones too.
Nice little girl. She looks like some El Paso Splendidas I have seen. Is this an El Paso bloodline Splendida?
Again, nice one.

Thanks, John.. I don't have her lineage handy.
How about this killer splendida x holbrooki found in TX.?

Mark,
That one looks like some I have collected around Pt. Lavaca area and north. It seems to have more splendida influence than holbrooki. In that area they are definitely intergrades with some nicely speckled ones looking 100% pure holbrooki. I really like the fact it has no white and lots of yellow.
Nice one,

I love splendida, but I think most of the ones I see in captivity aren't very attractive.

Here's one from South Texas (I don't generally like SoTex splendida) this big guy included -

Here is a bad pic of the nicest splendida I have ever found. I found this male and an identical female in the Hueco Mts in El Paso county (they are not easy to come by in the Huecos proper). I have caught a lot of El Paso county splendida, but none as perfect as this big guy-

Chris,
That has got to be the worst example of South Texas Splendida that I have ever seen. I have never come across such a dark specimen in my 20 years of collecting snakes here in South Texas. And I agree, not very attractive.
On the other hand, That El Paso specimen is one of the best I have ever seen. Nice, very nice....................

I love that last pattern.

Here's a big male I found freshly hit near Hebbronville, in South Texas. Again, the pattern of these SoTex splendida just doesn't do it for me....

Here's one of mine.
I've always liked the unique
pattern on these snakes.
