SOunds like she was afraid of you, Im no expert by any means but when my snakes go into the S Curve they are usually afraid of you. Many young snakes fear predators from the sky so if youre reaching down at her she has a very good reason to be afraid...it is nothing against you. I could be WAAAAAY off base but usually snakes are less afraid of you if you pick them up at their level...from what Ive seen anyway.

You probably just starteled her.

I always do two things before I pick up my boas...
Make absolutely sure they see me. And bring them to me with a snake hook. Then if they are O.K., go ahead and pick them up. Remember,...no matter how much we know about animal instincts and behaviours, they still have a mind of there own.

Also, I have occasionaly noticed unusualy aggressive attitudes this time of year over a period of many years. Careful!
Tony.

Mine will do that when she is going into shed, I took her out last night and as soon as i opened the lid of the shoe box I got a hissing greeting, i brought her over to the couch in the box,so i could clean her cage before she went into a full shed, i just let her sit there a bit, she finally came out after 5 minutes and I was able to hold her and seeing she was just blueing over. Cleaned her cage and snuggeled with her for a bit before putting her back in her cage. But we look like giants to thoise little things, go out in the safari and mingle with the elephants, then we will see from their point of view.
