size of 6 month old

kephy Jun 28, 2004 06:27 PM

I had my 6 month old weighed today. 184 grams and 14.75 inches. Does that sound big, small, or average? He's been growing at a steady rate, I just don't know what to expect by the time he's full grown. I thought 184 sounded pretty good, though.

I've been checking out the Diachu charts and beautifuldragons.com charts for comparison. It seems like length-wise he is small, but weight-wise he is big. That's why I'm asking you guys' opinions.

Ok now I'm starting to worry. It seems like he is kinda small for his age. I don't plan on breeding him so I guess it doesn't really matter, but still.

Wow, my BD must be really big for it's age then, cuz i know that at most it's 2 months old and is already over 10 inches long (dunno the weight tho, but he's really fat). According to the charts at beautifuldragons.com my bd should even be 10 inches until he's like 3 months...

Sounds big. Do you know if he has an german giant in his blood?

Domo was big for his age when I got him, 7 inches at 1 month old. I thought he'd be a bruiser. Then as the weeks went on all the growth chart sizes passed him. He's grown steadily at an inch every three weeks since I've had him, which I guess is good, but according to growth charts he is shorter than his peers. His weight seems to be decent for his age, though.

Here is the chart I've been keeping on him.

I really don't kno, i'll have to ask my breeder when i get a chance, but it probly wont be until mid august that i'll be able to contact her... until then... are there any defining charactoristics of german giants? (besides being big? of course )

Not really that I know of. Just big. When it comes to beardies, bigger is always better. At 2 months and 10 inches it sounds like you got a nice one.

Hopefully it stays big, unlike mine who's size didn't stay big for his age as I'd hoped.

See, that's why I'm wondering if mine is a little undersized.

I mean, he's healthy, great appetite, steady growth rate, everything is normal he's just a little small I guess.
