HELP!!! Corn laid eggs, need lots of help, total newb!!!

Ok, I got a big surprise when I got home today, my Miami phase has laid most of her clutch (10 so far) but she still appears to have about 4 or 5 left in her. I have put the eggs in a tupperware container of moist moss (I wet it in warm water and squeezed the excess out of it) and have it sitting at 80 degrees right now. What else should I do for the eggs and what should I do about her and the rest of the eggs in her? she's a W/C female, I was pretty sure she was gravid but had no idea she would lay today! Any help is greatly appriciated!

Sounds like you are doing good so far... take long fiber sphagnum moss, soak it in water, squeeze all the excess water out of it, place the eggs on a bed of this moss and place more over it, keep it in a sealed container to keep the moisture content high.... keep it at 80 to 84 degrees.... wait 60 days, and voila! Baby snakies.

As far as any more eggs inside her, she might have been disturbed by your finding the eggs, Give her some space and see if she lays the rest.

Thanks! She's laid 2 more. It looks like she has a couple left to go. Right now I have a heating pad on low with a steralite container on top of it with aspen in it. Then I have the tupperware container on top of the aspen. I have the moist moss inside with the eggs. I have a sticky thermometer stuck to the outside of the tupperware and so far it's holding steady at 80 degrees. Does this sound like a decent setup?

Thanks!

Do you have another way of heating the eggs. Unless your sure of the temps it could possibly dry out the eggs. You also want to have a thermometer probe inside with the eggs to measure the temps instead of outside the container. I just have mine in a sterlite container with moss on the top shelf of my closet. I keep the room heated to 84. So far so good. Good luck.

What should I do with her? Should I just leave her in her cage. She looks exhausted. Is there anything special I should do for her?

Thanks.

First I would get the eggs away from the heating pad unless you are sure that the room temperature is below 78 degrees. Heating pads just aren't the best way to keep snake eggs warm.

Second, as far as your girl, just give her space and in the morning offer her a good sized meal, she deserves it! If she doesn't eat, don't be alarmed, she might not eat until after she sheds, but at least give her the option.

Nice pictures! Good luck and keep us posted.

I'd suggest a smallish meal (a couple of fuzzies -- just a bit to help her system get started. She's somewhat sore inside and would rather not stretch the belly too much right now, but she probably hasn't eaten all that much recently (no room) and could use a bit of nourishment. Expect her to ge into shed almost immediately.

thanks! I found her south of Miami close to the Everglades. She was about to become roadkill when I found her. I'll take a few pics of her tonight when I get home.

I had a bunch more but my camera messed up and I lost most. I can take a few more soon though.
