i just bought a couple of new lizards a few weeks ago. i noticed my female is becoming gravid. i have never had a successful breeding before and i was wondering what the order of things were. Does she first become gravid and then develop eggs which are then fertilized by the male? or is she fertilized then produces eggs? and, how long from when she fisrt becomes gravid to egg laying. i know she should have a moist area for laying the eggs but i dont know how soon i should start moistening the sand. i plan to start posting more and hopefully some of you guys will help a novice out a bit. i admire many of your collareds and think this forum kicks ass.

Nice to have you Sledge !

Okay first the female ovulates, (is with egg) shes shows her NUPTIAL BLUSH (the orange color) "GRAVID" when shes got eggs.

This tells the male, Hey Honey I'm ready for Lizard LOVE

Hes very attracted by here at this point, and they either breed, and the eggs are then FERTLIZED, or they don't and she STILL lays the eggs and they are INFERTILE.

After breeding it takes 22- 24 days to lay. Just start to set up the laying area now for her so shes knows.

Anything else, just holler, we are here, and LOVE talkin Collareds ! Hahahha

Hey when you have time post a pic of your lizards, so we can meet them also *SMILE*

Glad you finally decided to talk to us ! LOL

thanks EVE, any tips on getting the male interested? she just started spotting on 6/28, what is the typical time it should take the male for copulation, and will they mate frequently or just once or twice? oh yeah, i am gonna get some pics up of my liz's and my terrarium but my digicam is kinda crappy so i will scan some photos soon as they are developed.
