Mouthrot?

loyski Jun 29, 2004 05:33 AM

My tegu has recently been rubbing her face on the inside of her cage, on the wood and glass. The cage is 6x3x3. I put some betadine on it, but i havent noticed any difference in a week.
Is there something else i can put on it to make it heal faster, and that wont come off so easy?
Thanks

right on its lip that does not want to come off. Is that what you are talking about? Mouthrot looks like cottage cheese? I don't have any experience with mouthrot. But if it is just stubborn shed I remove it with tweezers.

Definitely doesnt look like cottage cheese..
Its not because hes shedding, it looks like road rash on his nose area. Just like he kept rubbing his face on the cage until it bled.
Thanks

Ok, now I don't have any tegus "yet" but I've seen this with my monitors. It ussually happens with new monitors. It goes on for a couple days then stops. I don't know if it has something to do with being in a new home or possible mite problems.
I spray all my new reptiles with Zoo Meds MiteOff. I don't know if this fixes it or if it's just time getting adjusted to it's new home.
After rereading this post, I realized something. I don't know alot. lol
