Gecko dust

ecb Jun 29, 2004 05:46 AM

I found out something the other day

I had bought some Crix for the Geckos my Daughters have, and I dusted them with 1 part Lepard Gecko dust (with the bannana concentrate in it for Potassium) and 2 parts Reptivite. I fed the Gex and they ate as expected. What they did not eat I threw in the dragons tank (because the adults never eat them, but the babies seem to Love the hunt) and all 5 dragons went NUTS eating up the crix. I went out and got a dozen more, dusted the same way, and fed them again, they ate them all up (I am pretty sure not one is still loose in their tank) and to boot, the appetites are still up, they are still eating the nightcrawlers I drop in the food dish (Or most of them anyway)

They seemed to like the dust. Maybe this is a good thing, maybe not. But now I have a trick to get them to eat other fod stuffs other than worms once in a while

Oh, BTW
Erowen is getting fat again
I am going to set up the breeding tank this weekend on Saturday, and put her in when she starts to get lethargic

How long has it been since she laid last? And do you have an adult male in with her?

Last was in Feb
she is not lumpy, but her belly is getting BIG
Her appetite is really good, and she is profiling more and more. Not agressive, just does not want anyone using her as a Branch

Tripod is in with her, as is Erik/a, so we shall see

The biggest reason I want her in a laying tank, is so I know where the eggs are. Its a smaller and taller tank, so i can fill it deeper with less substrate. Use my Pyrex dish and filter trick, and be set to go

You wanna know what is odd
one of the babies was doing the compulsive digging thing a few weeks ago, but I never saw the Elvis Dirt Cap on her, so I think she was just worm hunting

I do not want any eggs getting laid and left in the substrate, If they are slugs I can imagine they smell worse than dead earthworms
