A question on setup

Nightshade Jun 29, 2004 11:20 AM

I am eagerly awaiting my arrivals (baby rainbows) and have the cage set up. I have a good (I hope) substrate, a good heat gradient, hides, branches and a cover for the screened top to keep in moisture.

Do I need to buy some special contraption to make humidity, you know, like a fogger or mister? Or can I just mist the cage down several times per day?

I use 1/3 moss in the enclosure. I mist it down once every 2-3 days. It provides dry and wet spots for my BRB.

Very simple, and relatively cheap -> a bag of 'exo terra' moss for $8.99 @ my local pet store lasts me 3-4 months.

...Oh and a simple spray bottle to mist daily is a great idea, if you are very responsible, misting helps provide a time for you to interact with your BRBs daily. Then again, if you are busy and don't have 30 seconds every day, a fogger will work well, but vibrates and causes undue stress to the animals.

Good luck!
