Well we had an 'upset' litter yesterday evening. It was from breeding a male 50% Surinam Het Albino to a female DH Stripe Albino. This female birthed on the 103rd day after her P.O.S. We would have expected a nice litter due to the parents being completely unrelated Hets. We even gave the famale 3 years off from her last litter in hope of a nice size strong litter of Albinos this season. The litter did not have the greatest outcome. It had 18 sluggs, 5 live Albinos, 1 stillborn Albino and 13 normals. Well by this morning there was another 2 dead Albinos and a dead normal, leaving us only 3 Albinos to pull for! All the babies have HUGE bellies and had more yolk to be absorbed. The remaining babies are very swollen and not looking too promising. This goes to show you that even using a great pair of unrelated Hets is not always going to guarantee you a nice strong litter of Albinos. If any of the Albinos make it, we will post pics after they shed.
Thanks for reading and better luck next time....
