Thanks.
I use newspaper or paper towels for all babies. Once they grow to about 2ft. I switch to aspen.
I use it on all of mine babies and adults. except my albino I use white computer paper, because some of the ink from the paper would show up on him.

Newspaper works good, and there is no risk to the health of the animal kept on it. I recently switched back to aspen for ease of cleaning, and the fact that the animals seem to enjoy it more and seem less stressed on it, plus I have never hear of any bad results with animals that have injested aspen including my own in the past. I have heard of cypress mulch causing impaction on numerous occasions, but have never had a problem with it either. My snakes eat aspen that sticks to their food and it just comes out the other end when they defecate, and until I have, or have heard of a problem with it I will continue to use it, it is rather drying to the animals though.
Newspaper is good & aspen is safe IMO.

I have 3 sub adults and 2 babies all enjoying the sunday paper. I've never had a problem and it's easy to clean.
Sometimes, when I run out, I use paper towels.
I use aspen in the rats' and guinea pigs' cage!
