Praise for provent-a-mite

riiotgrrl Jun 29, 2004 08:37 PM

Ok so if you have been anywhere near the skink forum lately you have probably seen my pleas for help with snake mites on my poor miserable itchy BTS. I am not sure where they came from, if he has always had them, or if i gave them to him somehow. I dunno. Anyways...I had been working on getting rid of them for a week or two now...soapy soaks daily followed by oiling with snake oil. I had taken my poor itchy skink out of his large 55g (which was fully decked out) and stuffed a less itchy, more oily and miserable skink into a sterile 10g with only paper towels, a paper bag and a plastic water bowl (all of which were thrown out the next day).

So, being a cautious mom, i was overly worried about all of my other 'kids' getting these little beastly creatures...since i had noticed none others (yet). So, was i supposed to oil all ove my babies and rotate all of my tanks (some of which are reptariums...)?? WHY NO! I got provent a mite!!

Hooray for that. I got it and sprayed down all of my tanks. Sprayed down my tortoise, sprayed down my carpet, the iggy perch, my shoes, my roomates, and (no im just kidding...but i hate mites, oh so much). ANYWAY. I took my miserable, less itchy skink, and for one last nite (o god so i hope) oiled him, and sprayed his 10g sterile tank with proventamite.

Today, as i was getting ready to put him into his spacious and decorated old tank (which was also sprayed down), i noticed ALOT of dead mites in the 10g. Thank you proventamite! You have turned an oily itchy angry BTS into a happy snappy lizard.

I've had to use Povent-a-Mite one time for a pair of imported Eastern Brown snakes (Pseudonaja textilis) and it worked great for me also.
