Early stillborn from gravid boa

najaballboa Jun 29, 2004 11:07 PM

I have a ten year old boa that is on her fifth or sixth litter. Last year she had one stillborn, two live births and about a dozen slugs, but I transported her eight hours from Denver, Co to Kansas in march, babies were born in july. Yesterday I found a dead baby that had been smashed. She is still gravid and swollen big. I heard that they may pass any stillborns up to a week before the rest. Is that true? What should I look for and what should I do in these next few days? She has gotten pretty skinny, except where the babies are.

I've had Death adders (Acanthophis sp.) do the same thing & I just waited it out. Sometimes a higher humidity in the cage helps too (I think so).

Good luck
