when do snakes hatch

janome Jun 30, 2004 06:40 AM

Is there a certain time of year for snakes to hatch? I have a 5 foot jungle carpet python. Bought her last year in November and was told she was a yearling then. So I guess she was hatched in 2002 sometime. I was wondering when JCP's usally hatch to get a more accurate year/month of her age.
There are LOTS of posts on here about new baby snakes. So is this time of year considered 'snake season?

in the wild nature, yes this is around the time that most are hatched. however the breeding process can be artifically controlled. typcially in nature they stop eating for about 3 months between december thru march, while they produce sperm and eggs, then mate, and the eggs hatch within the next couple months. however in captivity, people can artifically lower temperatures to trigger the egg and sperm making 3 month cycles. so it could have been born any time. my female was born in march.
