This is my female western....

Size referance...She definetly too small for just under a year!I'm uppin her to fuzzies. Shes nine inches....

I have been lead to believe that the size of the snake determines the feeder mouse size. I just bought 1.1 w. hognose from a gracious lady in Ca. the 0.1 is 12" and eating 2 pinkies per week. the 1.0 is 9" eating 2 large pinkies or 2 x-small fuzzies per week. Can I raise the size mice they are eating ?
What do they eat in the wild? There can't be all the different sizes ie. pinkies, large pinkies, small fuzzies, fuzzies, large fuzzies, small hoppers and so on available just when a snake get to be a just a certain size. Just a thought , Jon

They eat toads in the wild. And they probly eat whatever they can shove down their mouth without dying.

well, without dying....or regurgitating and wasting your money because it is still too small to eat what you bought...but if you buy from a place where they can tell you the size of their various mice, you can probably figure out what will work. my female is just about a year old and 10 inches, though much slimmer and smaller head than yours---she's way too small for anything much larger than a medium pinky so I just feed her more of them---now she gets 3 a week when she will eat that many. I'm hoping she'll get to a foot by the end of summer and be able to move up to larger food but I'll let her determine that.
