Are leos social? Thinking of getting a friend for my female

shelgirl Jun 20, 2003 01:06 PM

Do leos like to have another leo to pal around with? I currently have a 6 month old female leo and was thinking of getting another female. I have a 20 gallon long aquarium. Any opinions on tis? Do they enjoy company?

Leos don't mind having buddies around....but I don't know if I can actually say they enjoy the company...from my experience, they seem to just tolerate it. Getting a buddy for your leo will be fine, provided they do not bully eachother and there are plenty of hides and food items to go around.

I have 2 adult leos in a 20 gallon long tank, and they are fine. They will sleep together in the same hides all the time, and I have never had any problems, just make sure that you get leos that are very close in the same size, and be sure to watch and make sure they both are eating and one is not bulling the other one, but they should be fine.

To be honest, I think leos do better by themselves, but its fine to house more than one female together. A 20 gallon long is penty of room for two, but your need another tank for housing the other one for a couple months before you move the other one in, so you can make sure the new leo is doing good, has no problems that will effect your current leo (if you already know this just ignore it)

i have 4 females in a normal 55 gallon
they seem to hang out together at night all of them are on top ofthis hidebox, and it looks like theyre gossiping to eachother about the males across the room
