Indigo Enclosures (got Pics?)

ttreptile1 Jun 30, 2004 05:43 PM

Hey guys and gals. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some pictures of their Indigo or Cribo enclosures? I am trying to get some ideas for when I redesign my existing melamine cages. I have a couple of eastern hatchlings coming from Steve Binnig and I know they won't need the adult cages for a while, but hey can't hurt to start designing them now. Pointers are much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Why yes, yes I do. Here's one at least. Look close for the sliding hide box under one end. {very handy} I fill this with sphagnum moss and they just love it. I dampen it when they are in shed. Their skin looks great! The hide is just a plastic dish pan on rails, with a hole cut in the floor of the cage for a passage way. this hide box is at the cool end of the cage. The other hide box is also a dish pan with a lid, and some fake plants. I can move it where ever is best at the time, inside the cage. This way they have options. They never poop in the hides. Matter of fact, that seems to be the only time I see them, unless they are hungry. The hot spot is provided by a 65 watt flood lamp, on a herp power proportional thermostat/with night drop. I leave the night drop all the way down. And the window open. Very little temp control in my snake room. That way their night time temps are more natural. I just have to adjust the timer a little in the fall. This time of year it can get pretty warm in there during the day, but it cools of well at night with the aid of a small window fan during the night drop cycle. E-mail me if you have any questions. Good luck,
Tony.

Dimensions are 6'x2'x2'. If I had it to do over again, I would go longer, maybe 8'. And lower, maybe 18". And deeper maybe 32".

Nice job.

I REALLY like that under-cage, sliding hide.
How'd you do that?

I wish I were a better carpenter...

Thanks to all that replied or sent me pics of their setups. It was extremely helpful!

I had a setup like Tony's for a pair of chuckwallas. Problem was, as Tony mentioned, you never see them. They hid alot but I guess thats more like the wild. I may just do 8 foot cages for them when they reach adult size and just section off the last 2 foot for a hide box.
