I think Paul pretty much explained everything I missed most of the responces due to other priorities and then this NY deal. I havnt had a chance till tonight to veiw most of the forums. ANyway that animal is 110% a hypo I have been breeding Dumerils plus other snakes along time and can tell the differance between a premy and full term. All my dumerils produce 2 weeks after their latest shed and have done so for years she was right on the mark. In the litter there were two full term babies the hypo and a het. The hypo was out of the sake and under the mom when I foudn it laid out straight. Which tells me it was born live and she crushed it. The het was in the sake when we found them and I opene3d the sake for it. The animal was able to breath and even flick its tongue it was totally limp and died during the night. Also there was several slugs. The het dieing the way it did and the slugs I agree were a result of inbreeding. The hypo female was bred to her father. My reason in doing so was to prove the trait out. IMO that has been done. Getting what I did from inbreeding her also shown me the genes are weak when bred that way next year shell be out breed to produce hets to an unrealted male. Below is a photo of her that Kevin Hanley took. While her colors are a little differant now then they were when this pic was taken over 4yrs ago she still looks nothing like a normal dumerils. She still has her bone white sides that have no speckling in them what so ever and a light tan color down her back with light brown saddles. The way I explain her to people is shes about the some comparison to a normal dumerils as a hypo boa is to a normal boa. Now that she is eating again a couple weeks I plain on getting some good pics of her with comparison shots to show the differance between her and a normal with the new 35mm cam we got. To date all we have had is cheapy cameras.
Heres a pic of her offspring keep in mind the pic of her was taken at a year or so of age and not right after she was crushed and still had fluids on her.
Now the next pic is of my Arancio Phase male. I produced him in 99, maybe 98 I cant remeber. The photo is of him and a sibling at a couple months of age. Today he still holds those colors you see in the below pic true
The next pic is of him and the same sibling. I took these a couple months ago so there is 4 or 5yrs between. These were taken with a crappy digital. I want to redo all his pics as well.
and the next pic is just of him the same day
Last year I bred my arancio phase male to an unrelated female, I got a little of full term still borns(dont ask me why I have been slugging everything out) In that litter were 2 normals and two idenical to him also I think 2 slugs. So I beieve this guy here will turn out to be codom. I have a female that is gravid and looking very good at this point in time to him so hopefully well get some viabale young from him. I hope between Pauls post below(thanks paul) and mine this clears up and missunderstanding between the two lines.
