The Colombian redtails, also know as a common boa or common redtail, make excellent pets. I personally have eight of them, 5 adults and 3 juveniles. They are typically docile and don't get terribly large. In my collection, I don't have a single one that's over 7 feet in length, though I have one 3-4 year old female who I expect will reach at least 8 feet if not a bit more. I've read of females that reach 9 feet, but have never personally seen one nor know anyone who has. All of mine, including those I purchased from others who had not been handled as much as my original pair, are quite docile and easy to handle. As with any creature, common sense and proper handling should be exercised, but I find them to be great pets. I would definitely recommend them both because of their temperament as well as their inherent beauty.
