What exactly did you want to know about them? Nebulizers and aerosols are used in respiratory infections and pneumonia. They increase the humididity of the internal environment of the epithelial tissue in the respiratoy organs and therefor promoting the effecicency of the mucociliary transport mechanism. (its gets the cilia of the mucous membranes hydrated and working well to help get mucous and other cr4p out of the lungs.) It also helps to breakdown of harmful debris in the respiratory tract so that the body can absorb or expel it more easily. In addition antibiotics can be combined with aerosols in order to deliver them directly and evenly an deeply into the site of infection.

The treatment is most commonly given in 10-30 minute episodes 2-4 times a day for up to a week.
