OK, 2 questions please read (Silks & Tail Q's)

1)My first question is : Are silkworms really worth it? The minimum order on mulberry farms is $30 plus shipping = almost $40. Are the hard to breed or keep alive? My friend has an incubator I can use so that should help. But I am wondering if it is even worth it if I can pay 1/2 as much and get crickets and just gut load them.
2)Second question: I was wondering if my cham is overweight or something. He is very active and doesn't appear overweight but at the base of his tail it is very fat underneath and I was wondering if this was a sign of something. I would love to post some pics and I have a digital camera but when I go to put the pics on it says not enough space. So i am thinking the files for the pics are too big. Let me know what ya think. Thanks!

Hi-

You will find a better price on eBay do a search for silkworms. Silkworms are the best staple diet, better then crickets and much easier to keep. Your chameleon will love them. The bulge under the tail could be the Hemipenal bulge "The bulge at the base (proximal end) of the tail base due to the presence of the male's hemipenes. The presence or absence of a hemipenal bulge is often used to sex animals in species that are otherwise sexually monomorphic". To post a pic try posting them to the gallery first then on the forum with the URL. Hope this helps!

I've been getting my silkworms from ebay for the past couple months. 100 for $8.99 + $5.50 s&h. The guy even throws in a small bag of leaves.
