It is injected using a syringe under the skin of the forelimbs.

Is there a standard to be on the left or right as with most mammals like Canine and Feline most on the left neck .

Thanks

I think its usually tagged on the right limb. Are you gonna tag your turtles?

emutiong Jul 01, 2004 05:27 PM

YES I am gonna implant them as i am afraid of theft as most of my reptiles are kept outdoor.

These microchips is an identifying chip. It helps with identification. It is not a tracking module. You will need a scanner to read info from the chip.

I understand i hav the scanner n i am gonna implant them my self too.
After i implant them i will register the chip number wif the Vet.
Implant them so tat if i suspect someone is selling or keeping my Herps i can scan them to show i am the true owner.

At the moment I have a breeding group of heosemys spinosa but I think it'll take a while. My notochelys platynota did lay 2 eggs last May but it was slugs. Right now I'm rearranging their enclosures. Btw how big are your emys?

Lol i think the thread is getting a bit long
