I need some tips on keeping my humidity consistant and high. Any help is appreciated. I am running an 40g breeder aquarium setup with a screen top.

Some more info would be helpful. What are you keeping in it? What is your substrate? How are you currently heating it? Any other pertinent info you think of, the more we know the better we can offer advice.

Setup: 40gal breeder with screen top. Substrate is bark mulch. Heat lamps used on hot side with low watt black heat lamp used at night. 2 small under tank heat pads, one on each end. kitty litter box for water dish. One 18in ball python.

The room has a cieling fan and is airconditioned lightly. I do mist as much as possible, but it drops pretty fast.

My personal preference for BP's is to use a large UTH and no overhead heat source. Overheads tend to dry out the enclosure too much. Your mulch bedding is fine but I would add a large area of moist sphagnum moss, soak it in water and let drain and place in the tank over the UTH. This will raise the humidty and give a humid hide area for shedding. It will have to be rewetted every few days but works real well even with overhead heat.

Thanks big! I changed the substrate to a spongier more obsorbant one, and took off the heat lamps to just leave the pads. I realized the heat lamps didnt do too much. They just dried it out. Thanks again.
