Flex-Watt 3" Tape Strips, but no Day Light for box?

LAGecko Jul 01, 2004 12:58 AM

Hey there,

I'm building a breeder box a-la the one found on Leopard Gecko .com, http://www.leopardgecko.com/caging.html

Now, The problem I have in building this is that since the boxes use the Heat tape, there are no Day/Night lamps used. Won't this totaly throw off the Gecko's normal sleeping patterns?

Should I incorporate a cool low watt light bulb so that some "day/night" can be simulated? I would love your though on this.

It's not necessary if they get some sunlight from the windows in your room. If you keep them in the basement or a closet you may want to provide some sort of other lighting for them, though.

Most of us use sterilite or rubbermaid bins that are translucent and they let in plenty of light for the geckos to have a proper day/night cycle.
