The blazing blizzard morph (anybody else excited?) & mixing albino strains

marla Jul 01, 2004 01:29 AM

i can't believe it! i just discovered that prehistoric pets has a female blazing blizzard for sale, on their 'available' page! i am not endorsing or slamming them, but i have waited for years to see that! she is far beyond my price range, but i was so excited to see that, at last, the blazing blizzard (tremper form) has hit the market, and the las vegas form is on the way (via crested gecko), as i understand it! does anybody else remember the years of asking around, no one knowing for sure if any blazing blizzards had even been produced? i am just totally giddy. though i've noticed a lot of the blazing blizzards i've seen photos of aren't pure white at all. i'm unsurprised, since so many breeders seem to have been unselective about color, with regards to genetically controlled traits, until quite recently. next up, i would love to see the same effort put into mixing the las vegas & tremper albino strains (which, apparently, would require a rare incidence of crossover, as the blazing blizzards did)! i would only wonder how the breeder would be able to tell when both strains were successfully manifested in offspring from animals heterozygous for both (since they aren't that visually differentiated)?

I just saw her as well, very beautiful. Don't the normal blizzard pictures they have look more like blazing blizzards? I thought normal baby blizzards always had black/dark grey on their heads. While I know nothing about producing the different morphs, it is really neat to see such variety being developed in such a short period of time.
