I am so glad to have pituophis again...

ZPD Jul 01, 2004 02:27 AM

I just recently picked up this nice 3 year old female T positive albino bull. I made an oath to myself recently to keep morphs out but this snake was calling me. So now that I have her I don't know what to pair her up with, any suggestions? This picture doesn't do this snake any justice. Who else is working with the T albino bulls? This girl is such a pleasure to keep. Nice to have pituophis again. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I can understand why even someone that does not keep morphs. would pick her up. Really pretty animal, she should give you a lot of enjoyment for years to come.

As far as being T - Positive albino I am not sure I would call her that. Even though she does show coloration within the confines of that description. I would call her more of a hypo as versus T Positive. I would be very interested to see what would be produced when she was bred to a normal and the hets bred back to each other. Atttached take a look at two different hypos lines that we work with, the first of which matures out to look very close to her.

Also welcome to the pit/morph addicted group, we are kind of like AA in here. LOL

John,
You are right we are a bunch of addicts. But there is no recovery in this group...we feed each others addictions here. But I don't think any of us has any plans of trying to recover from our addiction. That's why I keep coming back. Every time someone posts a new picture I HAVE to have that one. I spent all day yesterday building new racks to house all the hatchlings I will be buying this year.

Oh my GOSH! What is going to happen to me when I go to a show? I'll want to buy everything I see. Maybe I should take my husband after all, a voice of reason.

Admitting you have a Pituophis is the first step towards dealing with the addiction.

I was in denial for years adamantly telling people no, I only have ringneck snakes. Really, I was only fooling myself.

Ultimately a group intervention forced me to face up to the scale counts, the markings, the lack of a ring, the keeled scales, and the voracious appetite for rodents that suprisingly few ringnecks have.

Thanks for letting me share.

1. We admitted we were powerless over Pituophis-that our lives had become unmanageable due to buying an obscene amount of pituophis.

2. Came to believe that a power greater than Kingsnake could resore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our money and our computers over to a sane human being, as we understood him.

4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of our Pituophis collection.

5. Admitted to God, our friends and to our significant others the exact nature of our Pituophis wrongdoings.

6. We were entirely ready to have someone remove this defect of character. (Nah)

7. Humbly asked him to remove our collection (No Way!)

8.Made a list of all the people we had harmed in our Pituophis collecting frenzy, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would cause us to have to sell any of our collection of Pituophis.

10. Continued to take constant inventory of our Pituophis collection, and when we needed a new Pituophis promptly purchased it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our concious contact with our Northern Pines as we understood them, praying only for more breeding behavior and the money to buy more Bullsnakes.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry the message to other pituophis forum members and practice this obsession in all of our affairs.

I bet some of you guys could get even more silly and creative with this 12 step list. QUESTION: With the T positive albino nicaraguan boas, no one is saying.....hmmmmm, i would call them more of a hypo than a T positive albino. Why isn't it a black or white issue? I read up quite a bit on the different color genes and how that all works when I bought her and thought i had understood it. Is it that the difference between the two is just the matter of a few missing genes? Confused...

John when you see this snake of mine in person it has alot of colors that you can't see in the picture, the tail is completely purple on the patches....No black at all just some creamy brownish purple stuff. Maybe Jason Nelson could chime in here, i see he has advertised on his site some T positive albino SD gophers, are they absolutely that, or are they a hypo? Im guessing that the difference between the hypo and T positive is only the matter of a lack of a few different genes that are responsible for a few different pigments? Teach me! I have included another pic of the T positive and a Stillwater i used to own.

P.S. More suggestions on what to breed her to please...

The color that looks black up near the neck of the T positive is actually brown in person.

John,
I am looking for an adult normal male, CB, hard to find! Got any?

Beautiful pit. If you live close to San Diego, I have a male you might want to look at! He's not for sale but possible breeding loan.
