Crickets in a dish or free fed?

heartsx2 Jul 01, 2004 08:19 AM

When I feed my adult gecko, is it okay to put the crickets in a dish? (I have a ceramic dish like used for hamsters) Is this a common way to feed crickets to your gecko or is it better to just throw them in the tank and let the gecko go after them? Thanks!

If your gecko will eat them out of the dish, go with the dish. Crickets are discusting pests. They will hide in whatever they can. Also if you leave the uneaten crickets in the tank after your gecko is full they will even nip at your gecko, causing alot of unneeded stress. Problem is most of the crickets will not stay in a dish that your gecko can get into.

I feed out of a dish, when i have crix. The dish needs to be pretty high or escape proof though, cuz well they're crix. I used a small cream cheeze container
but my leo had to really learn to arch over and in inorder to get the food
