An unreal Eastern Kingsnake !

Keith Hillson Jul 01, 2004 08:30 AM

Here is a snake owned and produced by my buddy Will Still. This is from his F1 Enge Georgia animals. Will has a few of these types pop up once in awhile and this guy is an older brother to my orange and black male from 2003. This is one of my favorite Kings of all-time so I just thought I would post a pic of him that Will took.

What a monster, that snake and yours must put a hurt on the food budget. Do you have enough spare time to feed them? If you or Will ever go broke from feeding these obviously inferior specimen I could take them off your hands

Seriously, this line might represent the potential upper size limit for this subspecies. Hopefully Will has a great breeding year where he produces more of these monsters. Who knows what is likely to pop out in the coming years.

Will has a good amount of eggs cooking from his GA's with some first time breedings so it should be interesting to see what he gets.

That is one of my favortite Colubrids of all time! I too have some of Will Still's 03 offspring from his Statenville line. My female has some wide bands ....male is just normal looking, both are going fast.

My pride is a Kevin Enge, 3 year old Eastern that was 3.5 feet when I got him which in my care has been eating small rats bi-weekly (garbage disposal for my Chondro Colony). His girth is 2 inches ans is over 4 feet now, great calm holding serpent, my wife even likes him. Keep the pictures comming.

Hey Ken

Please post some pics of your stuff as well. That 3' 2003 male I have is a beast but he isnt very mellow. He likes to chew on me as if my fingers are giant pinky mice ! I dont want this habit to continue when he is bigger as its already a painful event lol.

Keith:
The 2 siblings that I have to your 03 monster are still snippy as well. The male will strike from the get go and continue when picked up and handled, the female will rattle a bit and musk when picked up, act like she's going to be nice while being handled and then suddenly just freak out and grab on, sometimes a few times, and chew away. Crazy snakes!
The male's orange has started to fade a bit, but the female's is still very bright and intense, almost a shade of red instead of orange

The older 02 brother of theirs that I have is getting quite huge...he just shed too time for a new measurement. He's a weird one, sometimes nice, sometimes pissy but usually ok once picked up.

I'm hoping I'll get a few like that beautiful super-wide banded one in the future when I breed my snakes together. I'm still looking for a nice 02 female to pair up with this guy though if anyone has/knows of one up for sale: (old pic, he's MUCH bigger now!)

Awesome snake. Ever concider that this could be due to goini influence?

Keith Hillson Jul 01, 2004 01:10 PM

Yeah we have talked about that. The parents are F1 animals and the original animals they came from Echols and Tift Co., GA. Both wildcaught animals (they are pictured on my site as well). Keven Enge who is the originator never back bred his hatchlings until last year then he got a similar looking animal. This animals is the result of Enge's Echols Co. male bred to one of his daughters.

These counties arent too far from Florida with Echols right on the border. The whole mix of Easterns beteen GA and Florida have some real odd patterns in the mix, seems to be a bit of a melting pot.
Here is a pic of the parents of the real wide white banded male I originally posted and the parents to my orange and black male.

I love how dark the interbands are against the very wide bands. That snake looks very white too. I'm really glad to see it wasn't one of those with lots of red as it would have still been nice but not as attractive as this one. I have to say that is one of the best looking Easterns I've ever laid my eyes upon!
