I found some scrap carpet we had left over from re-carpeting out den a few years ago, its not "long carpet" its pretty tightly woven and compact. what is yalls opinion on that??

They can pluck the fibers out & eat them. Not to mention, how would you clean it?

Reptile carpet is actually fairly easy to clean in my experiance. But, that's beside the point I suppose.
