night time light.

longlizzard Jul 01, 2004 11:40 AM

what does everybody do about light at night? my leos were in a room where they would get some light (moon, security light, etc.) through windows at night. now that my two leos has turned into a multiple cage obsession, i had to move everybody into the basement. the room gets basically no light at all. as close to "cave darkness" as you can get inside of a house. should i provide some kind of low wattage night light?

thanks!

Hey there,

SO what were you using before or night heat? Anything? For my "display" geckos, I use 40-60 Watt Night bulbs that shine a Purpleish light to "simulate" the moon. But on my breeder Geckos, I now kept them in the dark heated with Flex-Watt Tape at 90F, and use natural reflective sunlight from a far window to shine light during day hours.

I'm pretty sure Leos need night heat...

A breeder friend of mine (non-commercial) sold it to me about a week ago. I'll post a picture of it if you'd like. He claims it should wind up being a Blazing Blizzard, at worst, simply Blizzard.

I'm trying to get into recreational Breeding, and he suggested that specimen.

My Blazing Blizzard looks almost exactly like the one found on vmsherp.com

It should be pretty easy to see if it is a blazing blizzard or just a normal blizzard, Just look at the eyes.

I paid $25 for it, and Nope... no red eyes... Oh well. I still think it looks good! Just a blizzard I guess.

$25 is still a great price for a nice looking blizzard, though. You should post a picture when you get a chance.

i use heating strips for heat. my daytime temp is 30 degrees and my night time temp is 26 degrees. thank you for your reply, but you still didn't answer my question about light.

thanks!

sorry. i'm an idiot. you did answer my question about light. i was caught up with "heat" that i completely ignored your comments about light at night.
